I am in love with the baby fruits and vegetables. Couldn't miss this cutie when I saw it at a farmer maket. It just is an apple size baby pumpkin.

I let my head to be free of any concepts, and allowed my hand to carve a pattern with having no idea what the finished design would be. I like to do this exercise of uncounscious creating.

The Phoenix

A fruit arrangement with a carved watermelon and a Phoenix bird carved out of pumpkin set on the top.

The arrangement has been made for the 60th anniversary celebration. The Phoenix symbolizes rebirth and renewal. It is a powerful message to the birthday person.

The event has been taken in 'Five Stars' restaurant. I like working at the spot. They have there a beautiful glass arc in a gothic style, that is illuminated from inside and gives much light. And that all makes a contemporary look.

Hope you guys had a great Halloween night. Even if you spent that night at home, I hope you did some pumpkin carvings.

 

I spent the night at the Halloween show in the cinema. Before seeing a horror movie the visitors tried themselves in carving scary faces in fruits. That was a quick class for joy.

 

I am looking forward to having official photographs of the evil party and monsters at my class :)

Garden Lantern Of Pumpkin. The Fall Craft Project

If you have a small green pumpkin or a large squash  you can turn it into a nicely looking lantern.
The lantern consist of 2 parts, they are a lantern body in a tube shape and a cone top.

Clean out the tube body.
Carve a pattern imitating a garden lantern.
Use the squash end part for the top. Clean out this part too and make a hole on top to let the candle's heat go out.
Decorate the top part with some simple cuts made with the U or V knives.

Build a lantern by bringing the body and the top together.
To light up the lantern take off the top, place a fire (candle) inside the body and bring the top detail back.
Be sure that you left a hole to let the heat out.

Enjoy fall crafting!

Tools used in the project:
U and V knives to decorate a top detail
Thai knife to carve a parten
Paring knife to cut vegetable
Melon baller to clean out pumpkin and squash

Bear Head Pumpkin Sculpture

The wild nature has became a theme for my fruit display. Can you imagine this roaring bear's head placed on the top of a watermelon? And served to a fruit buffet? I did that :)

Sculptured of pumpkin this bear head has been designed for a birthday party of a man, a lover of hunting. The watermelon design is made in hunting theme too.

The bear head has been carved with Ray Villafane Pumpkin Carving Tools which are loops in different sizes and shapes. Each carving artist should have them. The Ray Villafane's 3-D Pumpkin Carving Tutorials DVD will help you to master the pumpkin art.

Hawaiian Themed Installation



Hawaiian mask carved of pumpkin

This Hawaiian themed installation was presented to the public at "Sakhalin Artisans" exhibition held at the biggest trading center in my city on 25th of April, 2015.

This installation is a new project of me and my friend and painter Marina. We combined painting and fruit displays to deliver a feeling of the exotic place.

Family Tree For Wedding Decoration



This tree carved on watermelon was specially designed for the wedding of Andrey and Veronica.

 

New ideas are found in the fruit arrangement. A tree with hearts of carrot as a pattern for wedding watermelon carving. And a nice looking and a very romantic pumpkin light with carrot inserts.

Thai Pumpkin Lantern

Thai pumpkin lantern

I just love small pumpkins. My mom cultivates different types of pumpkins at her garden for carving purpose. I like to use the 'babies' for fall crafting as Pumpkin Ghosts and Pumpkin Snowmen; and also use the small pampkins for practising varving skills.

This time a little pumpkin has been turned into a lantern with the unusual carving design. Which one do you like a lantern with a white center or the one with a carrot insert?

Pumpkin Lights Photo Shoot At The Beach

This project was staged at a sea beach at the end of August.

Together with my artistic friend Marina I carved few pumpkin lights to take beautiful photos at a natural landscape. I love the idea to bring together two elements of Water and Fire. It was a magical performance. We have got amazing pictures of waves rolling onto the lights, some of them kept burning in water. Just fascinating.
