Persimmon Rose Garnish - Fruit Carving Art

Persimmon is "food of gods", has come from Orientral world. Persimmon is Japan's national fruit and that's where it originated. Persimmons are red-brown or orange fruits that grow on trees like plums and look like tomato.

What I learned about this fruit is that it is a good material for carving beautiful flowers! The persimmon rose garnishes could be amazing addition to a fruit dislay. They are bright, absolutely edible and delicious. If you are a fruit carving artist do not ignor this fruit.

Do you know this little boy named Pocoyo? He is a main character of  the Spanish-British pre-school animated television series.

Pocoyo was a theme of a party of 1-year-old client of mine.
The characters of the film carved in fruits, Pato the duck is crafted from oranges and carrot,
Elly the elephant is made of red apples. Pocoyo the boy is carved in watermelon.

Edible Button. Fun Apple Garnish

I continiue the series of easy fruit garnishes for drinks.  This edible button of apple is a real fun.

You will need:
an apple,
an orange,
small U-knife
peeler with eyers

Instruction:
1. Cut a slice of apple with skin
2. Make 4 holes with a small U-knife
3. Carve 2 strips in orange using a peeler eyer
4. Insert the strips into the holes. They are threads imitation
5. Decorate the button's rim
6. Use the button as a fun garnish for drinks and desserts.

I made a collection of orange carvings and garnishes. Today's entry a pattern carved in orange skin, made with a thai knife.

Teddy Bear Made of Oranges. Baby Shower Ideas.

Cute Cat Sculpture Of Oranges

Orange Cat Fruit Sculpture

A Cute Cat Sculpture of Oranges was designed by me for a gift fruit tray to be sent to a little girl.

Someone may say the cat looks spooky, it is more a gangsta cat than a cute one. OK :) This orange cat still looks great on the fruit tray.

You don't need a special carving tools kit to make this orange sculpture. A small pairing knife and toothpicks will do the job.

Two oranges and a grape were used for the Cute Gangsta Cat.

Who can resist trying the Cute Gangsta Cat of oranges?

Papillion Method For Making Fruit Sculptures. Dragon and Snake Out of Oranges

I am writing this post to share some news in the world fruit carving industry. 

Mr.Paolo Pachetti introduces his fruit sculpting style named Papillion Method.
Paolo has DVDs for sale at his website. Now he is looking for students for his course on cocktail fruit decoration.

I purchased his DVDs in December 2012. I have 3 video tutorials on making a fruit dragon, a lion and cocktail garnishes. Paolo uses pomelo fruit for the big sculptures and small citrus fruits for cocktails.

As far as pomelo is a rare fruit in my place I used grapefruits and oranges for the sculpting.

The dragon on the picture below was made for the male's 60th birhtday party (the birthday guy was the Dragon according to the Chinese astrology) in 2012.
Material: grapefruits.

I found this method interesting and alternative to watermelon carving in winter (say 'no-watermelon-season'). The method allows to create various fruit models.

I did the Snake, a host of the year 2013, out of oranges for New Year exhibition.

1 Year Birthday Party, Christmas Theme. Fruit Santa, Fruit Christmas Tree and Macaron Towers.

Last weekend I was asked to make fruit and sweet displays in Christmas theme for 1 year birthday party.

I must say that we have no customs for sweet tables yet here in Sakhalin. The sweet industry is not developed well and it is difficult to find all the sweets, candy and cake pops to organize a sweet buffet. 

After talking with a client we deciced on a large fruit tower to the chocolate fountains, sweet macaron towers and some Christmas fruit sculptures. 

The party was held in a restaurant with about 150 guests including children. The sweet table was organized in a special zone there children could have fun, being face painted and enjoying the games while adults were enjoying their meal.

"Costa Del Sol" Orange Icecream Dessert

Are you going for a vacation this summer? I am not.
If you stay at your hometown like me cherish yourself with a lovely sunny dessert named after the famous resort in Spain, Costa Del Sol Orange Ice Cream Dessert. Put on your sunglasses and take out your food processor!

You need:
2-3 oranges
chocolate icecream
1 nectarine, some garpes and a kiwi for garnishing.

Method:
Peel oranges and put into a blender. Do not through away the peels. You can use them for decorations.

After the oranges are blended fill a glass half with the orange puree. Set glasses into a fridge to let the orange puree freeze up. As soon as the oranges get steady add melting chocolate icecream and freeze again.

Garnishing:
Use U and V-knives for making the garnishes.
Thai knife and V-shape knife for the leaves.
U-knife for the flower.

I love to make fruit displays for babyshower parties. Cute animals and characters bring joy to children and adults. Some people hardly believe that the toys made of edible fruits. They think it is plastic. I ensure the display is completely made of fruit and vegetable :) I just wish the toys could have a longer life...

I enjoyed my work today. This display is my favorite one now. It took 2 hours and 30 minutes to carve and assemble them.

New fruit carving "Topiary" arrangements to Latino theme wedding reception (at MegaPalace Hotel).

Fruit topiary with grapefruit flowers and apple leaves looks very bright and breaftaking. The fruit flowers are garnished with black grapes.

Amazing topiary with oranges. This is a new edition of the Orange Sun arrangement garnished with cornel dogwood berries instead of radish roses. 

Vegetable topiary
