Sogetsu Ikebana Workshop - 2017

>>  6/28/2017

A big event is holding here now. It's a Japanese and Russian Culture Festival.

The one of the Festival activities is the Sogetsu Ikebana workshop by the japanese teachers, Takako Nishimura-sensei and her team from Hokkaido. Few years ago our local Ikebana group became a Studio Group officially recognized by Mrs.Akane Teshigahara and Sogetsu School in Tokyo. So each year we are visited and cared by our teachers from Japan.

These last days in June made a wonderful meeting with the flowers and art. Inspite of my ability to attend only 2 of 4 lessons, I got a real pleasure to study. We learned how to create a vase for the floral arrangements by weaving a sphere vase with thin rotang.

This Hawaiian themed installation was presented to the public at "Sakhalin Artisans" exhibition held at the biggest trading center in my city on 25th of April, 2015.

This installation is a new project of me and my friend and painter Marina. We combined painting and fruit displays to deliver a feeling of the exotic place.

The masterpieces on the photos:
The fruit tower with a Hawaiian mask carved out of pumpkin and flowers carved of daikon.
A sculpture of parrot carved out of daikon and flowers of vegetables.
A painting of a beach.

"Four Seasons. Frozen Moment" Exhibition Dec 2014 - Jan 2015

>>  12/29/2014

I have really great news, my friends. WE HAVE DONE IT! My friend Marina and me are having a personal exhibition at Sakhalin Art Museum this month.

Four Seasons. Frozen Moment.

This exhibition is a result of the partnership with a painter and a crafting person and my friend Marina Puzik. Four seasons are reflected with the paintings and installations made of various natural materials. The exhibition opened on December 23, 2014 and will last till January 26, 2015.

I presented long term fruit and vegetable installations and soap carving artworks. Some fruit details will be changed during the exposition time. I am going to surprise visitors with the variability of the display.

Here are the photos of the opening. Just would like to notice that none of trees was killed, we collected broken wood after a hurricane.

In the next articles I will share the soap carving pictures.
