An amazing apple boat, a super easy fruit garnish you or your child can do too.
This apple boat is the most popular fruit garnish I show at my fruit carving demos. It is a quick and easy super hit.
You need the following fruits and tools:
Apple
Orange skin
Toothpicks and a wooden skewer
Paring knife
Small size melon baller
Here in Russia Easter is celebrated on the 12 of April, 2015.
Last weekend we had a class on making Easter garnishes. At the class I taught how to carve spring flowers out of vegetables and how to make Easter bunny with fruits.
We arranged some branches in a vase and decorated them with soap carving eggs, paper eggs and mini plants in the egg's shell.
On the photos you see my ideas of eggs dyeing. They were fun to do with kids. I liked the chicks and the kids liked to do the Minions ))
Step by step tutorial on carving fruit sculptures for children's party.
This is a collection of the best sculptures I have carved for Baby Showers and kid's parties.
A pdf album with new ideas of fruit displays made for children. The photos from the file have never been posted in the blog.
The photos have brief descriptions and lists of the materials used.
Before Easter I went to exhibition with some carving and cute food ideas.
At the demonstration I showed my new cookie cutters in a shape of flowers. I love to use them for baking. On the picture you see sweet 'Flowers' tarts, 'Pyramid' sandwiches and mini pizza (tomato, salami and hot pepper). The Lemon Chicken was also a part of my class, it's very easy and quick garnish.

I found this idea of nice finger food prsentation at Restaurantware. A cute bamboo boat makes the appetizer look great. If you like cute plates and nice dishes I am sure you will stuck in the website strolling its pages.
Restaurantware is online shop specializing in bamboo plates and cones, disposable dishes, decorative skewers and catering food products. All the plates are useful for nice presentation of Asian and European food. Finger food, one-bite appetizers served in curved plates and bamboo boats look just adorable.

In my fruit work I often use decorative skewers to fix fruits in towers and cake constructions. Restaurantware.com offers a number of nice bamboo and plastic picks (some of them are really festive).
If you are a catering business take a look at the disposable plates page. The shop has white, black and seagreen tableware collections.
My favorite items are the double cups. Dessert served in them gets unusial look!

The shop sells the goods from thier location in Chicago and California providing international shipping to all possible countries. They accept payment via Paypal and credit cards.
You might heard that Russian Easter was celebrated on the 15th of April, the last Sunday. I have posted some pictures of our Easter food at my Facebook page. Today I'd like to give more details about it.
The main Easter food in Russia is Kulich or Easter cake. Kulich is a pastry with raisins. The cake on the picture below is not my baking. I bought it at a shop. Mine was the decorative part. Several months ago I purchased a special plate to display Easter food. The plate has cells for eggs which help to arrange them nicely around the plate. I have a few ideas of using this plate in a routine life.
Roasted chicken garnished with carrot flowers. I used a carrot curler to do the flowers.
Apply some salt and spicies onto a chicken skin and inside the chicken and leave for 2-3 hours. Set a chicken in a roaster and bake in a middle fire for 2 hours.
I recieved a photo from my friends with thier Esater cooking. They had a lot of baking (click the photo for a closer look):
This week I was travelling to some neighboring towns with carving demonstrations and classes. I had fruit and vegetable carving activities in schools and in a new trading center for its opening ceremony. Many things were showed. They were new and old ideas like a fruit snowman, vegetable and fruit mini arrangements and sandwich decorating ideas.

Once I came across a Carrot Cake made by Dave, the owner of the eRecipeCards.com. I liked the 'carrot' idea so much. That inspired me to create Carrot Sandwich.
For my version of Carrot Sandwich you need:
bread
butter
salmon caviar
By the way, in russian we use a german word 'buterbrot' for sandwich.
Today I will show how to make a simple fruit display using apples and orange. Very simple but effective arrangement. Take your knife and come along with me.
To arrange fruits like the one on the picture I use a special plate with pins. The pins provide a secure construction. The plate makes a fruit arrangement trasportable. I use the pined plate for making 'Take Out' fruit displays.

Set an apple on the pins. The apple will serve a base to fix the pieces on it.
