Asian Table Decoration With Fruit Carving Platter - Sport Theme

Hello Dears,

Love to share a fruit carving project accomplished for a customer's family. The man who hosted the party is sport related person with achivements in running marathons, cycling and triathlon. The sport theme is reflected in apple caring centerpieces - it have medal and bage images on it.

And what I like here the most are the prize bowls carved out daikon root and halves of pumpkin.

Traditional Korean 60th Birthday Table Setting (Hwangap)

I have been invited to a teem of designers to provide a traditional korean festive food decoration for the 60th birthday. The korean 60th birthday is called Hwangap.

Two fruit carving arrangements were done for the event. They are watermelons with fruit sculptures on it sending a message of health, long life and love to the birthday woman from her family.

The other designers covered the head table with typical koren clothes and set the festive table ware. They also placed the jelly towers made in a traditional festive way. These towers you see on the photo are plastic ones. In the past korean families did the towers with using real traditional sweets.

The Chinese Snake Design in Watermelon For 60 Years Birthday

The Snake watermelon was designed to 60 years birthday party of a korean man. According to korean traditions 60 years anniversary is the most important date in a human life together with 1 year and wedding.

The family of the birthday man asked me for a snake pattern on watermelon to match the Snake Chinese Horoscope of him.

Here is the result of my work. It was not easy to carve the snake because the watermelon's skin was hard.

I used 3 knives for the snake design:

thai knife with flexible blade for the small details,

Triangle thai knife for taking skin off inside the snake pattern,

a bigger knife for taking skin off around the snake.

The frame design done with big U-knife and small V-knife.

Birthday Watermelon "Mia" For a Little Girl

Mia, a little girl, had a first birthday party. Her parents asked me for something elegant in pink, lilac and white colors. I produced a watermelon with 'Mia' name and added to it a small crown which looked just adorable. The display was popular the most among young ladies of 10 years old. So the aim is reached, I think.

Just finished the watermelon fruit arrangement for 60th birthday anniversary reception. The arrangement is built of carved watermelon, melon "Gala", grapefruit slices and kiwi zig-zag garnish. Watermelon stands on the small glass vase. There are fruits on the plate around the vase.
